The USPS is implementing new tabbing regulations on booklets Effective September 8, 2009. Below are is the listing of affected booklet sizes and diagrams of sizes and tabbing positions. |

| Booklets consist of bound sheets or pages. Binding methods that are compatible with machinable processing include perfect binding, permanent fastening with at least two staples in the manufacturing fold (saddle stitched), pressed glue, or another binding method that creates a nearly uniformly thick mailpiece. Spiral bindings are not machinable so booklets prepared with spiral bindings do not qualify for automation prices. Large booklets may be folded to letter-size for mailing if the final mailpiece remains uniform in thickness. Comprehensive documentation of this new regulation has been made available by the USPS and in PDF format. CLICK HERE to download PDF. |

| The above size booklets which have a glued or stitched spine will be effected by the new regulations. Below is a diagram showing the effected size booklets and spine positions. The 8.5×11 booklet will only be effected if it is folded in half to 5.5×8.5. | |||||||||||||

| The above sized booklets will require 3 tabs to meet bulk mail qualifications. The positioning of the tabs is shown in the below diagram. The left image represents booklets with a spine on the short edge. The right image represents booklets with a spine on the long edge — this includes the 8.5×11 when folded in half. | |||||||||||||

New Templates Section Online

free printing product templates - www.copycraft.com/templates
In June we began the massive project of upgrading our product templates and re-tooling the templates section of our website. Over the weekend we finalized everything and took the new templates section and all the product templates live.
The new templates can be found http://www.copycraft.com/templates. You can also access the templates from the templates tab on each of our product pages or in the left sidebar there is a link to the templates.
Prior to the new templates section we had a rather lengthy and unorganized listing of all the templates. We have now organized all templates into their respective categories. From the main templates page you can now access each category. Once you select a category the page will populate with the templates available or give you a drop-down selection menu.
We now have templates from every product listed on our site; except banners. While we have standard sized banners listed, we have found that most banners are custom sizes. If you require a banner template please contact your sales representative and request a template for the exact size banner you will be producing.
Along with the redesign of the individual templates we have also produced each template in several different formats. For the majority of our products you now have the choice between PDF, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, JPG, or EPS file formats. For booklets, catalogs and magazines we have included single page templates for all formats except InDesign. Single page templates allow you to simply duplicate the single page template for however many pages you require. For InDesign users, use the drop-down selection menu and access the InDesign templates listings and select the booklet, catalog or magazine which is closest to your total page count.

Using our templates ensures your files basic format and layout have properly been setup. Properly setup files help ensure your job produces in the promised time frame and also help reduce the chance of there being and error which leads to a reprint.
Feel free to let others know about our templates section. If providing a link from your site please copy and use the following code:

You are welcome to send our templates to others. When sharing our templates we ask that you not modify the original and please credit Copy Craft. We have included a PDF called “readme” with all the templates and ask that you send that along with the template when sharing it. Please be aware our templates are formatted for use when printing with Copy Craft Printers. While our templates follow industry standards we can’t guarantee their accuracy with other commercial or desktop printers.
We hope you enjoy and get great use out of our new templates and templates section. If you find a template which you feel is incorrect or come across a broken link, please let us know.
Your comments, as always, are appreciated!
